The Monster called EXAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

My exams start tomorrow, Last whole week I have been on house arrest and surrounded by my books.
Shrav, Megh,Blos,Elz : All of us have been making those innumerable phone calls for last minute clarifications, which left us more confused than anything else.

Me: Hey, What is the damn theme of "Riders to the sea"?
Shrav: I have no clue, Call Sapn.
Me: Ok, Will call Rach, cos I dont have Sapn number.

Me: Hello Rach, What the hell is that guy Synge trying to say man..
Rach: I dont know, call Sapn, By the way, do u have Meghs number, I have doubts.here is sapn's number

Me: Hey what's Riders to the sea all about?I read the whole thing, cant figure out.
Sapn: Well about people staying by the sea side their problems, issues, the sea womens problem.
Me ( Surprised) Thats all..( I know that)
Sapn: Ya..
Me: (even more surprised) You mean there is no Post colonial, Deconstructionist, Modernist, Or any other theory involved with the text???????
Sapn: Well I dont think so, she didnt say there was any.
Me( Thanking God) Wow this text is a blessing for us.

Xerox copies are the next, Each one of us are rushing to the nearby photocopy shop to get our last minute copies of notes.

Shrav: Hey I need your notes on deconstruction
Elz: Me too.
Blos: Hey me too , me too.
Me: Shrav I need the whole of Textual analysis and Othello notes. Hey what about Pope?
Shrav: Later, we dont have them with us now.
Me: Internet my saviour angel..

I suddenly realise, I dont have notes for donne, and Megh suddenly realises she doesnt have for another poet(i forgot who he was, suffering from sudden memory loss)

Me: Meghs, I want donne notes
Meghs: Will give u on 28th.
Me: Ok Thanks..
Calling Shrav
Me: Hey , Whatz Up?
Shrav: Just threw James Joyce out of the window.
Me: He He, I threw Virginia Woolf.
Shrav: What about Vedic Dasi? Do we really need to read her?
Me( quite unsure myself) Well R.P said it was important..
Shrav: I need a break.Iam saturated studying .
Me: Me too, Wanna watch a movie.waaa

Merry Christmas

Its Jingle bells time.

Reminds me of the fun I had last christmas at my Music World Indiranagar store. Me, Tim,Franci & Vani decorated our store so beautifully.White cotton spread over the gondolas and cash counter, looked like it had just snowed..the christmas tree so neatly decorated by us..All of us wearing the santa cap , wishing every customer a merry christmas.singing carols out loud..Playing the 28 christmas song cd over and over again.

This year I miss all the fun & enthusiasm.

No more Evening shows for Women RJs

"Scrap night shifts for women" and our station director agreed

From January, Women will not do the evening transmission on our radio station, When asked why, they told me it was for my security.

Iam really pissed off by this whole incident. we lose prime time radio slot because of one stray incident.

Iam really happy with the NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik's views ,

“We believe this will be a retrograde step and everyone including women have a right to work any time they want,’’

This man surely makes some sense.
I just hope they find a better solution, increase security for women than ask them to stay home in the night.

‘Scrap night shift for women’ said an article in "The Times Of India". A wonder ful solution by All India Mahila Samskruthika Sanghatane.

"They said night shifts were the reason that prompted the murder of Pratibha Srikanth Murthy, an employee of HP. H G Jayalakshmi, one of the organisers, said: “Women employees of call centres are definitely not safe working at nights because crimes and atrocities against women are on the rise even in broad daylight,’’ she said. The members demanded that the change in Factory Act approving night shifts for women be scrapped immediately. AIDYO members also demanded that HP should take responsibility"

I thought incidents like Pratibha murthy's rape and murder would increase security measures in the city. Instead a "Women's Organisation " is actually asking for night shift s for women to be scrapped??!!??...

What next should we women expect?
1)Tell women not to work, For they get eve-teased,harrased while commuting to work & at work place.
2)Tell women to wear a burkha,dark glasses, socks,gloves, Because every single body part of hers instigates a man to rape her,
3)Tell girls not to go to anywhere, better still ,let her stay at home , for thats the most safest place.
4)Safest place did i say, oh no, let her stay alone, cause there are even uncles, fathers, brothers, cousins, neighbours who try to rape her.

Where is a woman really safe? What kind of an women's organisation is this??Instead of fighting for better security. It actually wants women to not work at night because of some maniac out there ???.. Shame on such organisations.

Stopping by the road on a winter evening

As i was crossing the road,
An auto stopped, He got out of the auto

Everyone were too busy to bother about him
He went towards the transformer
and behind the transformer..........
He relieved himself.

Gals just wanna have fun, especially so ;after 3 hours of Roland Barthes- "The Photographic Image" . While I was cribbing about the essay, Shrav made an announcement "So much of connotation and denotation forced us to think today" . We all were physically exhausted after so much of word-play by Mr Barthes.

Atlast I know what Iam gonna write about for my Textual Analysis paper submission, Iam gonna analyse the "The Economics Times- If you think ,you can"Ad and my analysis would be based on Roland Barthes Essay mentioned above.
British Literature paper I its gonna be post colonial criticism on Race and Gender in Shakespeares Sonnets. I just LOVE Mr Shakespeare now.
British Literature paper II is gonna be about Representation of the "Other" in Literature,I would be comparing Chinua Achebe' s "Things Fall Apart" & Joyce Carey's "Mister Johnson".

Would post all my analysis on my blog by next week.
